James B. Snyder, MD

 Dr. James Snyder, M.D., is the President and Founder of Long Island Psychiatric in Roslyn, NY, the author of Jimmy Racecar, a children’s book dealing with self esteem issues and ADHD and also serves as the Psychiatrist for the Westbrook Preparatory School for High Functioning Autism in Westbury, NY.

Dr. Snyder earned his medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine in New York and completed his Adult Psychiatry Residency and Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in 1997. A member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Snyder also holds a Diplomate from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

For more than a decade, Dr. Snyder has been known for his sensitivity, careful clinical assessment and expertise in the psychopharmacological treatment of children and adolescents within the psychiatric disorders including ADHD, Anxiety, OCD, Mood Disorders, Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. A dedicated teacher and advocate, Dr. Snyder regularly offers seminars and lectures to parents and Pediatricians on the impact of mental illness and Navigating the Maze of Medication Treatment.

Shreya Maniar Nagula, MD

 Dr. Shreya Maniar Nagula is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who specializes in adolescents and young adults with depression, anxiety and ADHD. She completed her child psychiatry training at New York University, where she served as chief resident, and continues to teach there under the title of Clinical Assistant Professor. Dr. Nagula can provide both individual therapy as well as medication management to children, adolescents and adults.









Anna Holmgren, MD

 Dr. Anna Holmgren completed her Psychiatry Residency and Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Holmgren is actively involved in teaching and supervising medical students, residents in training and other clinical staff. Dr. Holmgren recently served as a volunteer in New Orleans immediately following Hurricane Katrina and remained involved in the recovery effort during the subsequent year.

Dr. Holmgren’s current interests and work include international psychiatry and mental health care.








Jill Slavin Mashaal, PhD

 Dr. Jill Slavin Mashaal is a New York state licensed psychologist who specializes in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of anxiety disorders, including obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, and mood disorders. Dr. Mashaal provides both individual and group treatment, and works with children, adolescents, and adults.

Dr. Mashaal obtained her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical and school psychology from Hofstra University. Throughout her studies and during her clinical work, Dr. Mashaal has been involved in research in many areas: autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), hoarding, public speaking anxiety, social skills training, cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

Dr. Mashaal is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), New York City CBT (NYC-CBT), the International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation (IOCDF), and the Association for Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (ABCT), and has presented her work at many national conventions.

Recently, Dr. Mashaal appeared as a psychological consultant on season 1 of “Hoarding: Buried Alive” (Episode 3) and season 2 of “Confessions: Animal Hoarding” ("80 Cats and a Baby" and "Chihuahua Nightmare").


Greg Coffey, PhD

 Dr. Greg Coffey earned his Bachelors Degree in Psychology and German from Bowdoin College in 1984. Dr. Coffey completed his completed his doctoral training at Hofstra University in 1991, where he pursued internship experiences at the Institute for Behavior Therapy, and the Hofstra Health Dome.

Since 1992, Dr. Coffey has been in private practice (currently two settings: Merrick and Roslyn Village) creatively utilizing proven cognitive behavioral techniques and short term therapy to treat ADHD, Asperger’s Disorder, Depression, and Anxiety across the life spectrum.

Dr. Coffey joined forces with Long Island Psychiatric in 2001, employing a team approach (psychiatrists, psychologist, social worker, nurse, art therapist, social skills group leader) to behavioral and emotional disorders.

Dr. Coffey has been Adjunct Professor at Nassau Community College since 1995 teaching courses in Adolescent, Child Development, Abnormal, and Introductory Psychology.

Lana Monas, PsyD

 Dr. Lana Monas received her doctoral degree from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University in 2008. This followed a successful career as a project manager in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

She went on to complete her internship training at MercyFirst, a non-profit agency for troubled adolescents, where she worked with disenfranchised teens. Subsequently, she became a clinical coordinator for their mother/child group homes.

Dr. Monas has extensive experience working with clients with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Bipolar Disorder as well as Depressive and Anxiety Disorders. In addition to her training in child and adolescent psychology, Dr. Monas frequently works with families and couples in group therapy.


Sheryl Stern, MA, LCAT, LMFT

 Sheryl Stern, MA is a Licensed Art Therapist and Marriage and Family Therapist.

Sheryl Stern obtained both Masters Degrees at Hofstra University, New York, where she is also an Adjunct Professor at the School of Education and Allied Human Services in the Department of Counseling, Research, Special Education and Rehabilitation.

Sheryl Stern has served in the Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Psychiatry at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System.

Sheryl Stern specializes in Marriage and Family Therapy, Postpartum Depression, Infertility, and Weight Issues.

Sheryl Stern has published journal articles and entries in publications of the New York University Child Study Center. In addition, as an Art Therapist, her work utilizing interventions for adolescents with mental disorders appeared at the Whitney Museum in New York City. Sheryl Stern has also illustrated the children’s book Jimmy Racecar, which addresses self-esteem issues associated with ADHD.


Lynne Kulakowski, LMSW

 Lynne Kulakowski specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents and adults who suffer from ADHD, Anxiety, Depression and low self-esteem. Her previous work in the psychiatric emergency room @ Elmhurst Hospital has equipped her with the necessary tools that help stabilize families in crisis.

Mrs. Kulakowski has previously worked on the Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Unit and Day Treatment Program at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. In addition to her current work at Long Island Psychiatric, she also works as a Substance Abuse Counselor at North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center in Westbury. She maintains a positive connection to the community by serving as a mentor to young social work students and at-risk children & teens in foster care.

Lynne Kulakowski received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University and recently became certified as a school social worker.




Bonnie Januszewski

 For more than thirty years, Bonnie Januszewski has worked successfully with families, physicians, and organizations facilitating programming and therapy for children diagnosed with ADHD, depression and autistic spectrum disorders.

Awarded two training scholarships at the prestigious Richmond Fellowship College in London, Bonnie “Jan” completed training there in psychotherapy and group dynamics, and at Empire State College, where she received her B.S. in Human and Community Services. Additional training included research in family therapy, in conjunction with the University of Cardiff, in Wales, and the founding of a social skills community program sponsored by the local authorities of Kensington and Hampstead, also in Great Britain. Her areas of expertise include disability awareness, aids education, and the collaboration of creativity and play with conventional therapeutic practices.

Bonnie Jan has consulted for the NYS Office of Mental Retardation & Developmental Disabilities, the NYC Board of Education, The Jewish Coalition of Special Services, the Child Abuse Prevention Program, Inc., Adelphi University, the School of Visual Arts, the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, The Indian Mountain School, Parsons School of Design, The New School, the Connecticut Department of Social Services and many school districts in the metropolitan area.



Donna M. Snyder

 Donna received her Associates Degree in Computer Technology from Farmingdale University. She is also certified as a paralegal from Adelphi University.

Donna has been office manager at Long Island Psychiatric since it’s inception in 2000.

Donna is passionate about her work. She makes a point of personally connecting with both children and adults who visit our facility. Donna is prompt, friendly, efficient in setting appointments and an expert in handling administrative matters.
